Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival Deluxe Announced, Coming Holiday 2021

After the HUGE success of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it would make sense Nintendo would want to further attempt to cash in on the Animal Crossing franchise. They've just announced a port of the Wii U title - Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival - which will be heading to Nintendo Switch this holiday season, and it looks great! Full details below!

The game will feature updated visuals and gameplay, to make the game more accessible for new players. The Balloon Island mini-game has been updated to allow for use with the Wii Balance Board. Players will have to lean their weight to each side of the balance board to control their character when popping balloons.

A number of new features have been added to the game to make it less monotonous. For example, with a collaboration between Nintendo and Katy Perry, if players scan in the Katie Animal Crossing amiibo card before taking their turn during the board game, players will be able to chose the number their dice rolls on, which will surely give an advantage! The drawback, however, is every time the Katie amiibo card is scanned in, players will be forced to listen to Katy Perry's "Roulette".

As per the original, Animal Crossing amiibo figures will be required to play the game. Though this time, if you scan in this newly announced Limited Edition Golden Villager amiibo, you'll gain access to a full playable version of the original Animal Crossing for the GameCube!

We know when amiibo Festival first released it got less than stellar reviews, but this updated port really looks like it'll make a tonne of improvements over the game. It's no shock Nintendo released such an underappreciated game after seeing the success of New Horizons. More details are to be revealed in future. Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival Deluxe is set to release for Nintendo Switch in Holiday 2021!
