Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Version 1.9.0 Announced, Coming Tomorrow
Though we've known of the Sanrio content coming for a while now, we didn't have much of an idea as to what else would be coming with the impending update, if anything. Nintendo have now dropped the full details of the Version 1.9.0 update, which is due out tomorrow. Full details below!
For the first time in nearly a year, we didn't receive an update video. Instead, we got a series of tweets, and details updated to the website. The first part of the update talks about patterns! We will receive an additional 50 pattern slots, as well as the ability to access the Custom Design Portal anywhere via the Nook Phone. The catch here is you'll need to spend your Nook Miles to receive the update, costing 2,000 and 300 points, respectively. You'll also have even more pattern customization options available, with the ability to design your own Umbrellas, Uchiwa Fans, Flags, and the much loved Cut-out Standee's from New Leaf!

After the update on 3/18, you can add more Pro Design options, and receive 50 more slots in both Custom Designs and Pro Designs each. With a #NintendoSwitchOnline membership, you can access the Custom Design Portal from your NookPhone! pic.twitter.com/r0Hlk0xA0F
Next, which is either a blessing or a curse, depending on how you see it, is Bunny Day 2.0! As far as we know, the event will remain the same, but Nintendo did fix the Egg spawn rates previously, here's hoping this year isn't as bad as the last. However, there will be new Bunny Day items, that will be available exclusively at Nook's Cranny.

Bunny Day is back this year on 4/4! Collect a variety of eggs and craft DIY Bunny Day themed items. You can also visit Nook’s Cranny from 3/28 to 4/4 to grab one item from the Bunny Day series each day. The newly added items are exclusive to Nook’s Cranny. pic.twitter.com/Sj2xlTHJxH
The NSO app will also be receiving an update in the near future, both set for late March. The NSO update will allow players to collect Nook Points daily by accessing the app, as well as redeem them for rewards. The second, and it's unclear whether this will be via the NSO app, or a completely new app, is the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Island Tour Creator. This new app will allow players to highlight and share the best parts of their Island, and share a nice portrait with their Dream Address attached.

As with every update, as a thank you for those who download the newest version, a 1st Anniversary Cake that was hand-made by Nook Inc. will be sent to all players. There are also a tonne of Seasonal Items which are explained in detail.
Firstly, from March 26th - April 1st, a special Whoopoee Cushion can be ordered via Nook Shopping to celebrate April Fools, with a new color available each day. Prom Season will then take place during the month of April, and see Prom themed fashion items added to The Able Sisters, as well as items coming to Nook Shopping.
A Forsythia Tree will be available between April 1st and April 10th to celebrate Tree Planting Day, and Cool Globe to celebrate Nature Day From April 15th to April 22nd. Those that have an active NSO subscription will also be able to order a Nintendo Switch Lite for the low cost of 19,980 Bells!
Of course, the Sanrio content will be coming, which we've already detailed here, though they've clarified a few details on how you'll obtain the items. According to the website, you'll be able to buy the furniture by using amiibo cards to "exchange bells for special Sanrio-themed furniture and fashion items in-game". What this means exactly isn't further explained, but with the update dropping soon, we don't have too long to wait.
As for the long awaited Version 2.0.0 update... given their previous history, it seems unlikely we'll receive it until this update has run it's course at the end of April, with details being announced mid-late March, though that's pure speculation on our part. We have written a post that goes over what we'd like to see in the V2 update.
Like with most updates, we'll have a post going over all the new items added, which may have a few surprises. As always, if you haven't already, be sure to follow us over on Twitter and Tumblr. Feel free to join our discord server, too!
